Since forming in 2008, Drawn from Bees have challenged musical orthodoxy, from a four-volume EP
boxset, Elementary Tales for Young Boys and Girls, to the LP, The May King and His Paper Crown,
exploring themes of love, loss, murder, and betrayal. Playing to audiences in Australia, UK and USA,
in famed venues such as the Whisky a Gogo and the Bowery Ballroom, Drawn from Bees have
garnered a reputation as a compelling live act, as well as achieving critical acclaim for their particular
brand of art-rock.
The members of Drawn from Bees each spent their formative years in a different part of the world –
Brisbane, Sydney, Portishead (UK) and Butterworth (Malaysia). This unique combination of life
experience has allowed for a depth of experience, influences and colour in Drawn from Bees’
approach and sound.
